Every time I drive along the coast road approaching Barn on the Bay I get a sense of calm, the sea over the horizon, the breeze and open fields and of course the buzz of an epic wedding ahead. It’s one of my absolute favourite venues in the North East and from the moment I met Becca & Chris I couldn’t wait for their day. The day started with Chris and the groomsmen creating the most amazing table plan with individual photos of each guest whilst Becca and all the girls had their hair and makeup done over a lot of laughing and emotions. Becca took a little time with each bridesmaid to tell them what they meant to her before heading out on the tractor trailer to the beachside ceremony.
We had an incredible conga entrance of the wedding party into speeches followed by the couple. Adding in some Australian traditions to mark Chris’s Australian heritage before singing waiters ended the meal. It was a lively day and a joy to photograph. I loved using my storytelling approach to capture details like Becca leaving the barn for the tractor, a family member playing the trumpet as the couple walked down the aisle and all the energy and moments that happened naturally during the day.
I always approach weddings in my relaxed, candid style and that was no different here. I loved looking for the storytelling elements and real connections that make a wedding unique and Becca & Chris provided plenty of real and natural connections.
A huge thanks to Becca & Chris for trusting me to capture their wedding. As always it was fantastic to be back at Barn on the Bay, a wonderful team and so supportive of their couples and suppliers.
Take a look at some of my favourite photos from the day and a full list of suppliers at the bottom.
