Autumnal Durham Micro Wedding

As with most of this year’s weddings, Verity and Anthony had a tough battle to finally say I do. When I first met them both we had never heard the word ‘COVID’ and we chatted about their wonderful plans and 140 (ish) guest wedding without a thought to the changes they would need to make. I have photographed a few ‘micro’ weddings now so I know how amazing and intimate they can be. Sometimes though it is hard for a couple to imagine their day any different to the one they originally planned, understandably of course.

Fast forward and COVID happens (we all know this story) and they had their guests list down to 30 people and were looking forward to the big day. Of course that wasn’t the final hurdle and the next announcement saw them drop to 15 guests. The whole time maintaining they would get married this year no matter what. Only a couple of weeks before the wedding we were at the risk of Tier 3 (if you are reading this in the future just Google ‘COVID’ Tiers!). The final change was to move the wedding forward so they could have their 15 guests.

I knew all along that the wedding would be the perfect day, as Verity and Anthony took everything in their stride and are such a nice couple. Together with some of their closest friends and family they chose to get ready in the large cottage next to The Morritt Hotel before heading to the church for ceremony.

In a lovely ceremony taken by Verity’s Aunty the couple finally said ‘I do’ and honestly looked like the happiest people in the world. It was really nice to finish my 2020 wedding season with such a fun wedding and after some relaxed portraits we headed to The Morritt Hotel for the meal and speeches.

Although limited by table service and no big party, the speeches were filled with laughter, tears and love, even Rusty the dog made an appearance! It was such a nice day and great to be around happy people and to be taking part in weddings again.

A massive thank you to Verity & Anthony for having me along for the day, it really means a lot. Of course a big thank you to all the other suppliers and the staff at The Morritt for all their help on the day. Check out a few of the photos below and a highlight video (wow that’s new!) and if you are looking for a wedding photographer get in touch today.
