Wales Wedding at Oldwalls Gower

Oldwalls Gower Wedding

Thursday 5th April, the weather not looking great in the North East I started out on the long drive towards one of my favourite Airbnb stops, Taffs Well. I enjoyed catching up with the couple who hosted me the last time I had a wedding in Wales about 1 year ago. Friday morning I set out early to Oldwalls Gower near Swansea, the setting for the wedding of Becky and Dan.

Dan I knew from years ago and although we hadn’t spoken for some time I was so glad to be asked to photograph his wedding and pleased to be heading to this gorgeous corner of Wales again. Becky and her bridesmaids where using the lovely Mulberry House, just a stones throw from Oldwalls Gower as their gorgeous setting for getting ready. The cottage is owned by Oldwalls and comes complete with exposed beams, hot tub and a huge open plan living space, perfect for me to photograph the bridal preparations in.

The venue is surrounded by amazing countryside, a lake and huge window allowing natural light to pour on the couple during the ceremony. Dan was wearing full Army number 1 dress and the groomsmen were also in uniform. Becky looked great in her dress and Dan looked very nervous as Becky started walking down the aisle. After tears and laughter everyone headed outside for confetti and a few group photos. I headed off with Dan and Becky on a short drive to the beach. Although the weather wasn’t the best Becky got her wellies and umbrella out and we got some amazing natural photos looking out over the cliff. Thanks guys for braving the Welsh elements!

The speeches involved picture boards and sentences that had all the groomsmen heads in their hands. After all the emotions and embarrassment was out of the way we spent some time by the lake and captured the day as we waited for the band and evening reception to start. The band were incredible as was the buffet! After several trips to the bar for Jagers (wedding guests, not me!) the celebrations were in full swing with the dance floor going crazy. This was my first time at the Oldwalls Gower and the staff were fantastic from start to finish, a brilliant setting for any wedding with a friendly Welsh welcome.

I had the pleasure of staying in one of Oldwalls Gower’s glamping pods for the night, thanks Dan and Becky, it was the perfect end to a fantastic day. Seeing some old friends and capturing the day of a truly special couple who have enjoyed many years together and I am sure many more to come. Congratulations Dan and Becky and thanks again for having me along. Below is a selection of the images from the day, to see the full collection please contact the bride and groom for access to the online gallery. Hopefully this wont be the last wedding I photograph at Oldwalls Gower.
