Jervaulx Abbey Wedding
The tranquil, historic Jervaulx Abbey, located in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside, hosted the incredible fun and colourful wedding of Aurora & Dan. This romantic venue sits in 120 acres of parkland and as the sun beamed down I had one of the best days photographing this Jervaulx Abbey wedding.
Jervaulx Abbey offers on site accommodation in the form of two shepherd huts which you can use for getting ready, however Aurora & Dan hired a large house nearby so everyone could get ready together. It was a wonderful crazy morning with kids, hair makeup, board games, drinks and food and I loved being invited in and trusted to capture everything.
Outdoor Ceremony at Jervaulx Abbey
The Abbey offers several amazing locations to host an outdoor ceremony. From intimate, smaller, ceremony only options, to weddings with up to 200 guests. With the Abbey as a backdrop you can choose The Cloisters leading up to the Chapter House, a stretch tent for wet weather or as Aurora and Dan did, the open outdoor space in front of the Abbey. The outdoor ceremony space is tranquil with a truly unique backdrop. The guests were seated as Aurora made the scenic walk in the sunshine to the ceremony. The Abbey is full licensed for legal ceremonies but Aurora and Dan had already done a legal ceremony and instead had a family member conduct a really personal ceremony.
The Paddock – Tipi Wedding
After the ceremony you walk down a wildflower lined aisle to the open green space of the Paddock. You can hire the Paddock for your wedding reception and pick between different options of Marquees, Tipis and tents. It’s the perfect venue for a relaxed outdoor style wedding. Aurora and Dan opted for Tipis from the Garden Weddings team and they offered the perfect space for food, speeches and dancing.
Outside the Tipis were garden games, beer pong, outdoor bar, fire pits and the whole day felt like a festival.
Handily the venue is run by the team at Where The Ribbon Ends, amazing cake makers and owners of a very tasty tearoom on site at Jervaulx. The cake looked stunning and even featured the couples dog!
Sunset at Jervaulx Abbey
Luckily we had some glorious light as the sun set over the Abbey. We had a quick wander around the grounds for a relaxed couples portrait session taking in the flourishing wildflowers and Abbey ruins.
The dancefloor was full from the start and went all the way until midnight.
A huge thanks to Aurora and Dan for trusting me and having me along to capture their day. Take a look at some of my favourite photos below and check out all the amazing suppliers listed under the photos.
